After hearing about this tiny gem for over a year I finally paid it a visit last night. As other reviewers have said its a minuscule place, festooned with peeling posters and flyers on the wall. Last night saw two singer song writers ply their trade to friends, family and the odd passerby in the catacomb like space. We ordered our drinks cheap for the area and settled down to the two acts.

The acoustics were perfect, as the sound man constantly fiddled with his various knobs but you almost got the feeling that with a place this small any amplification was almost superfluous. Act one was a bloke on his lonesome, wringing the guts out of his guitar and with the facial expressions to match. Act two featured a chellist with bass drum, accompanying another singer strumming a little more delicately then the previous act. Both acts were rapturously applauded by the small crowd of about twenty or so people.

The over whelming sense here was that the doorman and bar staff were related by blood, racial differences apart and that the customers were their cousins. Here we felt cosy and at home, amongst the slightly frayed and peeling decor of the best smallest bar in Hoxton.

sssh... don't tell everyone, but there's a great little basement bar called Three Blind Mice. It holds around 50 people (at a push) with regular unplugged music and DJs, loads of foreign bottled beers and feels, well, very secret!

Take your mates down here this week. It's like your own private bar under The City of London.

This little basement bar is fantastic. I'd heard about it through a DJ that has a monthly residency there. If you're into chrome, flashy lights & flashy people then please stay away! Dark walls, candles & low-lighting create an atmosphere like a house party. The musical policy on this Friday night was wide-ranging - soul, RnB, funk, reggae & latin. The place was busy, people were friendly & chilled as they danced away. There's no door charge either. Despite clearly being busy, the barstaff were very friendly & helpful. The owner was by the door making an effort with everyone, a really laid-back guy. Going back on Friday 7th December for another great night!

Having read the reviews for this place I thought I would go down and see what it was like. My friends and I arrived at about 10pm, after having dinner in the area, and the place was nicely ticking over. The website advertised the night as Mou Mou and it was lovely a mix of old school and new music that was not too loud or obtrusive. A bottle of red wine here is 12 and it is decent enough plonk. Lovely night all round, will definetly be going back.

A friend took me to this bar one Friday for a girls night out, it is great. The music is laid back and not too loud, the barman knows his drinks and the clientel are not a bunch of suits looking to pull, so it's great for ladies get togethers. My advice is get there early though so you can monopolize one of the alcoves. We left suitably intoxicated with smiles on our faces so I am definitely going back here.
